Consequences...

Being in debt doesn't just affect your financial status. It can also have an extremely negative effect on your mental health. The constant stress of worrying about where you are ever going to scrape up the money to pay the next round of never ending bills is never good for anyone's health. When you have family member that you have to support, it is even more stressful than if you simply had to worry about taking care of yourself.

There is also the fact that many people feel ashamed about being in debt. They don't just spend time worrying about how they will be able to dig themselves out of the debt trap they have found themselves in, they also stress over concealing the fact that they are in debt from friends, co-workers, neighbors, and sometimes even family and loved ones. They worry what people would think of them if they knew about their debt problems, if they would see them in a new way or judge them in a negative light, perhaps even refuse to associate with them anymore.

The truth is that so many people in the country today are suffering from the same money problems that you are that some of the people you may be trying to hide your debt issues from may actually be in the exact same financial situation that you are in, or even worse. Trying to hide the fact that you are in debt is not the solution to your problem. In fact, you can end up making it far worse if you choose to ignore it completely and don't work towards repairing your finances.
